Activity: After reading these tales, have students select their favorite. Once they select their favorite, they should complete a written reflection on it. This reflection should answer the following questions:
-Why is this story their favorite?
-What is the general plot of the story?
-What would they change about the story? Why?
-What was the emotional response they had to this text?
-Was this story the first introduction they had to the culture that provided it?
-Do they want to learn more about the culture now?
-What was the value of oral tradition? Is oral tradition as highly valued today?
Students should share the main ideas of their reflection with a partner.
